San Angelo READS event offering free school supplies, backpacks, more

San Angelo READS! back-to-school event is happening on Aug. 2, offering games, free school supplies, coupons and more.

The free, family-friendly event is held by the San Angelo ISD at the Foster Communications Coliseum from 11 a.m-1 p.m. Aug. 2.

This back-to-school event will be similar to the district's North Pole Pop-Up and Summer Book Patrol Pop-Up events with a slight change.

"We’ll still be celebrating literacy with the same great READS! pop-up fun, games and activities, but we are expanding the focus to also provide the community with free resources such as school supplies, backpacks, coupons, free services, etc.," according to a news release from SAISD.

"We hope you can join us and help us celebrate and inspire a love of reading within our Concho Valley community and helping our families prepare for the new school year," the release stated.

Community partners are invited to join in to champion literacy and provide families with free back-to-school resources.

To register to have a booth and activity or free giveaways, fill out a participation form by 1 p.m. on Friday.
