San Antonio's taco game is just one of the reasons USA Today named the Alamo City a foodie paradise.
A recent USA Today report praised San Antonio's thriving culinary scene, naming it "one of best food cities in America."

The Alamo City was highlighted as a culinary destination in an Oct. 5 feature
in the national publication's Travel section.

Little surprise that USA Today travel writer Eve Chen praised San Antonio's Mexican food as a key part of what sets it apart. Throw a stone and you'll hit a food truck serving tacos any other city would envy.

More specifically, though, the article mentions our bean scene. Chen wrote that everywhere she went in the Alamo City, the beans taste like they're made by a "legion of grandmas" — probably because they are.

However, it's not just Mexican food that makes SA a standout, she added. The city is one of just two in the U.S. recognized by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) as a Creative City of Gastronomy
, the other being Tucson, Arizona .

What's more, San Antonio is gaining recognition for its cutting-edge restaurant scene — something French tire maker Michelin is taking note of as well. The Michelin Guide to Texas debuting Nov. 11 will feature San Antonio, lending even more legitimacy to the city's distinction as a culinary capital.

USA Today further credits the Culinary Institute of America for being a guiding influence on the city, transforming it into a "culinary incubator."

Specific businesses that got shoutouts from USA Today include Eddie's Taco House, Rosario's, Pinkerton's, La Panaderia, River Whey Creamery, The Jerk Shack, Freight Fried Chicken, La Gloria and the array of offerings at The Pearl, including Bakery Lorraine, Hotel Emma and Cured. The report also extolled the Pearl Farmers Market, which the publication previously ranked one of the
top farmers markets in the country .

    Now, who's hungry?
