The San Antonio Zoo shared an adorable video of a baby Palm Cockatoo who doesn't quite look like a bird yet, but it does have a pretty awesome mohawk.

On July 19, 2024, the TikTok account for the San Antonio Zoo in Texas shared a video of one of their newest babies, and it looks nothing like you'd expect. Take a look!

In a really interesting 9-second video , we meet a baby, Palm Cockatoo, who clearly has much to say.

When the video starts, you're not really sure what you're looking at, but you can see something really small on the counter across the room, making some strange noises.

As the camera continues to pan and zoom in closer, it's still not clear what the thing is but you can now for sure see that the screeching sound playing over the video is coming from this little thing.

Then, when the camera gets right up close, you start to see some of the features that make the video's caption make more sense.

It's a very small, mostly naked baby bird who will eventually turn into a Palm Cockatoo, once all its feathers come in.

"Baby Palm Cockatoo has the cutest little Mohawk," the video's caption reads.

And in the comments, people had a lot of funny reactions to the screeching naked bird.

One person wrote, "When Pixar meets Jurassic Park
"

Another shared, "Ummm, that’s a dam dinosaur."

Someone else wrote, "Oh it’s MAD ma."

One user added, "This right here is why TikTok is completely necessary."

Another TikToker wrote, "My god, birds were dinosaurs!"

Someone else joked, "Middle of the night. Can’t sleep so I go sit on my porch and open TikTok to THIS. Now I really can’t sleep!"

    Facts About the Palm Cockatoo

While it's hard to imagine it right now, when this baby grows up, it will be full of beautiful black feathers, red cheeks, and a voice that will get much louder.

"The Palm Cockatoo has a large and complex vocal repertoire, including many whistles and even a 'hello' call that sounds surprisingly human-like," Kiddle explains.

"The vocalizations of palm cockatoos are similar to those of most wild parrots, but they have also been shown to produce a variety of additional syllables in display and exchange with neighboring individuals," the site continued.

Zoo Tampa says that Palm Cockatoos live together or in larger groups and like to spend time up high in the canopy. But in addition to vocalizations, they also do something called drumming, and yes, it's pretty much what it sounds like.

"They choose a drum stick with their beak and use that stick to bang or drum on a hollow tree. They also drum with their feet," the site explains . "After drumming, they will sometimes tear up the stick, by shredding it into nesting material and place that in the hollow. This is done to impress a female."
