San Antonio’s Pearl development offers no shortage of options for those who get a kick out of observing from afar. From the greenspace near the Bottling Department Food Hall to the many restaurants with outdoor seating to the recently opened Pullman Market, there are plenty of spots to take a seat, grab a drink and marvel at the idiosyncratic nature of the human animal. The Pearl’s designation as a shopping, dining and gawking destination certainly offers plenty of human animals to choose from. And why not? Studies show that people watching improves observational skills, fuels creativity and enhances empathy — things we could improve on in these fucked-up times.
