Eppig Brewing Replacing Stone Brewing Co. in East Village

After entering into a strategic partnership last year, Eppig Brewing is preparing to open a new taproom in East Village at 795 J Street .

Last year, What Now reported on Newport-based West Coast Ventures & Resources taking operational control from the San Diego brewing company with hopes of expanding to more locations. Now, Eppig Brewing is making moves to do just that, recently applying for a liquor license application to move into the former home of Stone Brewing’s East Village Taproom, which has sat directly outside of Petco Park since 2014. Stone Brewing still operates its taproom on Ketner Boulevard.

Eppig Brewing is getting ready to open its newest location in time for the Padres 2024 season opener, which is on March 28. When it opens, customers can expect a variety of the company’s award-winning craft beers on tap and a full restaurant component, according to SanDiegoVille . The news of the upcoming downtown location comes just a few months after Eppig Brewing announced it would be closing its Vista tasting room.

Eppig Brewing was founded in 2016 by Stephanie Eppig , her husband Todd Warshaw , and brewer Clayton LeBlanc . The trio expanded the brewery throughout San Diego before Stephanie joined QDOBA in 2021 and Todd began to experience recent health issues. As a result, the company partnered with West Coast Ventures & Resources to take over operational control. Despite having sites in La Jolla and North Park at one point, Eppig currently only operates its waterfront Point Loma tasting room.
