Trust Restaurant Group Opening New Concept in North Park

A brand new yet-to-be-named French brasserie is set to move into a vacant space in North Park , located at 3002 University Avenue .

Previously, the space at the corner of 30th and University was intended to be an Encinitas-based Death by Tequila Mexican bar & restaurant, but those plans have since been scrapped, and a new concept is set to take its place. Brad Wise , chef and owner of Trust Restaurant Group (TRG), has secured the space and is in the process of opening a yet-to-be-named restaurant in Summer 2025 , according to San Diego Magazine . The restaurant will move into a space that previously housed a discount store and Hawaiian restaurant.

While there is still a lot of work to be done on the space before it opens, including a complete rebuild, several members of the project have already been announced. Jess Stewart will serve as beverage director and develop a brand-new cocktail program, while Ben Zuba will serve as the wine director, emphasizing French wines “and their counterparts in America,” as explained by Wise. All beverages will be synchronized with Wise’s French-inspired menu, which is still in progress.

This is just the beginning for Wise, who plans to expand Rare Society across the country, starting with a new location coming to Las Vegas at the UnCommons mixed-use development in the southwest part of the city at 6880 Helen Toland Street. After this, Wise hopes to expand the concept across the country and is currently looking at locations in Texas, Arizona, Florida, and a handful of other states for possible future expansions
