A Little Moore Cafe Finds a New Home in Leucadia

After two locals bought the business last year, A Little Moore Cafe has officially found a new home in Leucadia at 698 N Coast Hwy 101 .

The company’s new location will move into the former home of Mozy Cafe, which suffered a second-alarm fire in 2019. Owners Andy Vasquez and Don Dickey continue to keep the business alive after the two Encinitas natives bought A Little Moore Cafe last year from longtime owners, the Han family, and the previous landlord opted out of renewing its lease to make way for incoming cannabis dispensaries. The new owners expect to open in late spring or early summer , according to San Diego Magazine .

When the new brick-and-mortar opens, customers can expect the same vibe from the original location at 1030 N. Coast Highway but a little more refreshed. The owners even saved some original elements, including booths, barstools, and even the retro-style bar with attached stools. The most significant difference will be the possession of an alcohol license, which will allow the cafe to serve beer, wine, and other breakfast beverages, such as mimosas.

Last year, when A Little Moore Café, along with Leucadia Barbershop, Paw Purrfection, and Hart & Honey, were forced out of their site following lease disagreements, the cafe stayed relevant through pop-ups in the area. Leucadia Barbershop eventually relocated to 698 N. Coast Highway 101 and called Vasquez and Dickey when a space next to the new location was available.

“April 3rd, 2023, we embraced a bold move, purchasing “A Little Moore” cafe despite not having a relocation site,” according to the company’s Instagram . “The original location faced displacement for a medical marijuana dispensary, motivating us to step in and preserve the local staple. These past eight months were filled with challenges: relentless efforts to secure a new location, numerous rejections, and days that seemed endless. Yet, we persisted, never losing sight of our goal. Through determination, focus, and proactive measures, we operated as a pop-up, building momentum. Now, after eight months of hard work, we’re thrilled to announce our new address at 698 N Coast Hwy 101, keeping us neighbors with our friends at Leucadia Barbershop. Cheers to new beginnings & thank you to everyone who has supported us along the way this far”
