World Design Capital San Diego Tijuana 2024 has selected 16 posters for the Binational Youth Poster Exhibition, which opens Thursday.

Hosted by the WDC 2024 Club, the exhibition of works by young people, continuing through Aug. 30, will be featured on both sides of the border – at UCSD Park and Market in the East Village and Casa de la Cultura in Tijuana.

“San Diego and Tijuana are blessed with an amazing local art scene and this process showed us that this will continue for generations to come,” said Mai Nguyen, board chair of WDC 2024 and director of the UC San Diego Design Lab. “The designs selected are a beautiful reflection of cross-border collaboration, something that is at the forefront of WDC 2024’s mission.”

The WDC 2024 Club is a diverse community for young people that aims to champion the voice and aspirations of younger generations within the framework of WDC 2024.

The Binational Youth Poster Exhibition is a showcase that will feature posters addressing a range of pressing challenges facing the region. WDC 2024 received over 250 submissions.

Each entry was reviewed before a final vote was conducted by the WDC Design Council to determine the final 16 designs representing eight themes:

    • Arts and Culture: Lilian Balderas Pérez and Ximena Cuétero
    • Effective Infrastructure and Placemaking: Nestor Francisco Ruiz Miranda and Ingrid Michelle Enriquez Cardel
    • Equity, Social Justice, Health and Wellbeing: Daniel Alejandro Martinez Fernández and Marie Jernigan
