Sports San Diego board members have elected Jackie Reed president of the nonprofit organization for 2024.

Other 2024 elected officers for Sports San Diego include Steve Martin, treasurer, Shelley Zimmerman, secretary, and Dennis DuBard, immediate past president.

Formerly known as the San Diego Bowl Game Association, Sports San Diego has overseen the annual DIRECTV Holiday Bowl college football game since 1978.

In 2022, Sports San Diego expanded by bringing the region’s sports commission under its umbrella. The work bore fruit last year with the November launch of the Rady Children’s Invitational men’s college basketball tournament and the assumption of management for the California State Games.

“Sports San Diego is expanding its scope of work for the region which will result in considerably larger impacts for our community,” Reed said. “I look forward to working side by side with a great group of civic-minded San Diegans and making a difference for our hometown!”

Reed is the CEO of T S Restaurants, a family-owned, privately held company with 13 restaurants in Hawaii and California, including San Diego favorites Jake’s Del Mar and Duke’s La Jolla. Reed started working with company in 1989 as a hostess for Leilani’s on the Beach in Maui and has been CEO since 2015.

Reed, of Samoan descent, was born in Hawaii and raised in San Diego. She graduated from San Diego State University’s Executive MBA program, earning valedictorian honors.

Active in the hospitality industry, she is also an executive board member for the Hawaii Lodging & Tourism Association and on the board of trustees at Francis Parker School. She also sits the board of Just Remember Corporation, a nonprofit honoring her late grandson.

Jackie and her husband John share four sons, two daughters-in-law and six grandchildren.

The mission of the non-profit Sports San Diego is to generate tourism, visibility, and economic impact for the San Diego region by producing and recruiting events and experiences for visitors and local fans. Since 1978, the association has generated more than $1 billion in economic benefit for the San Diego region.
