UC San Diego’s Izaak Martinez has picked up two more honors.

The reliever has been named to the 2024 National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) All-America Second Team and 2024 Perfect Game College Baseball All-America Third Team.

Martinez is the first Triton to earn All-America honors in the Division I era, adding to an impressive list of accolades in his fifth season.

He became a finalist for NCBWA Stopper of the Year – Texas A&M’s Evan Aschenbeck won the award Friday and was also a semifinalist for both the Dick Howser Trophy and College Baseball Foundation National Pitcher of the Year.

He was named to the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) West All-Region Second Team earlier this week.

The left-hander had a standout final season with the Tritons, ranking second in the nation in earned run average (1.85). He also placed among the top 15 nationally in hits allowed per nine innings (5.68) and WHIP (0.95).

Martinez led the Big West in six different categories, including ERA, fewest hits allowed (40), fewest runs allowed (16), fewest earned runs allowed (13), fewest doubles allowed (5) and fewest home runs allowed (1).

The Glendora native led the Tritons with 24 appearances out of the bullpen, collecting 61 strikeouts in 63.1 innings with a 0.95 WHIP.

The NCBWA, founded in 1962, offers multiple honors in college baseball, including naming All-America Teams for all divisions.
