San Diego Legion in Playoff Mix As Tickets Go on Sale for Rugby Title Game at Snapdragon

Tickets to this year’s Major League Rugby Championship Match are available now, with the contest set for Aug. 4 at Snapdragon Stadium.

The championship will feature the top teams from the East and West conferences after completion of the 18-week regular season and a single elimination tournament that starts July 20.

“The MLR Championship marks the pinnacle of competition for our season, and I’m excited to welcome our fans to San Diego for what promises to be an unforgettable weekend,” said Nic Benson, CEO of MLR. “This season has been full of the most competitive, exciting rugby our league has ever seen, and I’m ready to get the playoffs going!”

TIckets for the championship start at $41.50 and may be purchased through the San Diego Legion website or Ticketmaster. The match is set to air on Fox.

The Legion made last year’s final, falling to the New England Free Jacks 25-24 in Chicago, the first-ever neutral site final for the MLR Championship.

San Diego, which made its debut in 2018, is 0-2 in MLR title games, but has a shot to make it back before a home crowd.

The club, which has secured a playoff spot, currently sits in third place in the west with a 9-5 record. In their last match on Monday, Chicago prevailed, 22-16.

On Sunday, the Legion hosts the league’s best, the 13-1 Houston Sabercats.
