Mixed Grounds Coffee is Coming to North Park

Mixed Grounds Coffee , a locally-owned and operated cafe that also features a roastery, art gallery, beer, wine, and more, is getting ready to open a new location in North Park at 4555 30th Street .

The company’s second site is set to move into North Park’s AMP 30 building later this year, likely in Fall 2024 , according to the company’s social media . Mixed Grounds Coffee will sit on the ground floor of the 202-unit development across from Fall Brewing Company and The Friendly. Customers can expect a variety of specialty drinks, including Vietnamese iced coffee and lychee matcha lemonade, as well as traditional pastries and some specialty snacks, such as empanadas and Belgian waffles.

Mixed Grounds Coffee first opened and closed in 2019 after brothers Kwa Nguyen and Quoc Nguyen took over the former home of Imperial Grounds and its adjacent space, along with friend Cuong Nguyen , who owns the building and rented the space to the brothers and helped them opened Mixed Grounds. They did this because they wanted to open a coffee house because they felt it was a missing piece in the community, and they wanted a place where they could host community events, art sales, food vendors, and more. Those who don’t want to wait a few months before giving Mixed Grounds Coffee a chance can visit the flagship location in Logan Heights at 2920 Imperial Avenue.

“Founded in 2020, Mixed Grounds Coffee started out as a passion project, an idea to infuse coffee, art, music, and Hip-Hop culture together as a community gathering place. A mixed space for everyone. Today, that passion continues with multiple coffee shops in San Diego, CA, and a micro roasting facility where we roast in small batches to ensure quality and freshness. The coffee we roast are carefully curated specialty coffees from around the world. We believe that the farms we benefit from are underserved in this industry, and our goal is to work directly with them to create a more sustainable business model for everyone.”
