Spill the Beans Hoping to Replace Our Green Affair in PB

Spill the Beans is looking at a major piece of property in the heart of Pacific Beach and is hoping to open a new location at 980 Garnet Ave.

The company’s fourth location appears to be moving into the former home of the first Our Green Affair site, which opened in March 2020 and closed earlier this year. Now, Spill the Beans will take over the space later this year, according to documentation submitted to the San Diego Department of Environmental Health and Quality. The site is pending an inspection and has no exact opening date. The company also has locations in Mission Valley, Seaport Village, and the Gaslamp.

This will be the second time Spill the Beans’ parent company, The Verant Group , led by founder Joe Vaught , will try to expand into Pacific Beach. In 2022, What Now San Diego reported that the company was trying to open a Spill the Beans in a 1,212-square-foot space that previously housed Mama Mia’s Italian restaurant in Pacific Beach. These plans never came to fruition, and The Verant Group was forced to look elsewhere. Now, they have found what they believe is a perfect spot in an extremely busy part of Pacific Beach. Customers can expect a variety of housemade bagels, coffee, tea, lattes, chia bowls, pastries, and breakfast sandwiches.

“Freshly made, inventive, and conscientious, Spill the Beans is rapidly defining how adults should begin their day,” according to the company’s website. “Our coffee surpasses the expectations in both taste and sustainability. The food we pair with your cup of joe pretty much tells it all. Slather one of our scratch-made bagels with artisan-compounded butter or your selection of housemade cream cheeses.”
