SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — Officers broke up an underground rave at Sunset Cliffs Natural Park just after midnight on Monday, San Diego police confirmed — the second such party dispersed at the site in less than a week.

Three officers and a sergeant first responded to the party shortly after midnight in the area of Ladera Street and Cornish Drive, Lt. Dan Meyer said in an emailed statement on the incident. An unknown number of partygoers were at rave when police arrived on scene.

Meyer said he was “not aware” of any citations that were issued as a result of the party, and was unsure whether any damage or trash was left behind.

Meyer said it was the second underground rave that has taken over the spot over the last few weeks, the last being on Sunday, June 23. According to Meyer, officers from SDPD’s Beach Team were the ones who stopped that party from happening.

“There have been past raves at the location throughout the years,” he continued in the emailed statement. “Western Division is aware these parties are becoming more of a problem recently and are attempting to address the issue.”

No additional information was immediately available about the incident.
