Kids of all ages like to play, right? There’s lot of frolicking going on this San Diego weekend, at the beach, in the streets and even at fire houses.

The seventh annual All-Inclusive Day of Play & Resource Fair is dedicated to children of all abilities. Enjoy free activities and giveaways while tapping into resources for families at 11 a.m. Friday at the Miramar Hourglass Recreation Center, 10440 Black Mountain Road.

The Over-the-Line Tournament returns to Mission Bay Park Saturday and Sunday with competition in several divisions, including men’s and women’s open. Be out bright and early at 7:30 a.m. for play (and a libation or two) all day long. The event, a tradition that stretches back to 1954, continues next weekend.

It’s been scorcher after scorcher this week. But it’s not quite the dog days. That is, unless you really love pooches. And firefighters. Then El Cajon’s Dog Days of Summer, a free event at 9 a.m. Saturday, is just for you. The Heartland Fire and Rescue station on Lexington Avenue will open for tours and visitors can grab services for their dogs too. There will be free dog washes and a chance to mingle with therapy dog Yara, not to mention photo ops on fire trucks.

The 12th annual East Village Block Party, essentially a launch party for the Padres, suffered a rain delay in March. There’s no rain on the horizon now and the party begins on J Street at 10 a.m. Saturday. Stroll from Seventh to 10th Avenue in front of Petco Park during the free Friar celebration and drop by local vendors, while listening to live music and enjoying bites, beer and cocktails. With the Braves in town, top off the day with a game as the Pads contend for a wild-card playoff spot.

San Diego Pride isn’t quite here, but you can get a jump on things this weekend:

    • She Fest – the 10th annual event includes workshops, vendors, community organizations and performers at the Hillcrest Pride Flag on University Avenue. Activities start at noon Saturday with workshops to follow at 1 p.m.
    • Drag Brunch at Louisiana Purchase – The North Park eatery gears up for its Pride Kickoff with a Sunday show hosted by Tink Le Belle, including performances by Amber St. James, Victoria Elvato & Jazzlene East Coast. Tickets are $10; the show starts at noon.

The Holo Holo Music Festival kicks off Saturday for its first stay in San Diego, with two days of island and reggae music at Thrive Park at Snapdragon Stadium. See J Boog, FIJI, L.A.B, Spawnbreezie and more Saturday and Maoli, Six60, Katchafire, Eli-Mac, Siaosi and more on Sunday. Gates open at noon. Single-day tickets start at $149.

SeaWorld San Diego’s 2024 Summer Concert Series begins at 6 p.m. Saturday, continuing through Aug. 24, featuring R&B, pop and other genres. First up, aughts star Jesse McCartney, whose hits include “Beautiful Soul” and “Leavin’.” The show comes with park admission, but guests can upgrade to reserved seating at Bayside Amphitheater. Other performers in the coming weeks: Ginuwine, Hunter Hayes, Montell Jordan and Newsboys.
