U.S. Soccer announced Friday that San Diego FC goalkeeper Duran Ferree was named to the Under-20 Men’s Youth National Team’s 21-player roster.

The team will represent the U.S. at the Concacaf Under-20 Championship, set to begin Thursday in Celaya and Irapuato, Mexico.

At the tournament, the team will attempt to secure one of four berths to the 2025 FIFA U-20 World Cup in Chile. The 2024 championship features 12 teams divided into three groups of four. The top two teams of each group and the two best third-place teams will advance to the quarterfinals.

The four winners in the quarterfinal round will qualify for Chile.

The U.S. is aiming for its fourth-straight Concacaf title after taking home its first three championships at this age level in 2017, 2018 and 2022.

As the tournament’s top seed, the U.S. is in Group A, opening the competition against Jamaica at 7 p.m. Friday, with matches to follow against Cuba at 7 p.m. July 22 and Costa Rica at 7 p.m. July 25.

All matches will be broadcast in the U.S. in English on FOX Sports networks and in Spanish by TelevisaUnivision networks.

Ferree is one of seven California natives on the U.S. U-20 roster, including Luca Bambino from Saugus, Ethan Kohler from Campbell, Cruz Medina from San Francisco, Niko Tsakiris from Saratoga, Ruben Ramos Jr. from La Puente and David Vazquez from Los Angeles.

Ferree, currently loaned to Orange County SC for the remainder of 2024, became the first player signed by San Diego FC in December. The now-defunct San Diego Loyal inked him to a deal in 2022 when he was 15.
