A brush fire spread over about 10 acres on the grounds of Marine Corps Air Station Miramar Thursday, causing no reported structural damage or injuries.

The fire did, however, force a temporary closure of a stretch of state Route 52.

The wind-driven blaze erupted near the intersection of the route with SR-163 shortly before 3 p.m. Thursday, the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department reported.

Authorities shut down the westbound lanes of SR-52 in the area while ground and airborne crews worked to extinguish the flames.

As of 4 p.m., firefighters had halted the spread of the blaze, according to San Diego Fire-Rescue public affairs officials.

    The cause was under investigation.

Meanwhile, containment for the Sloane Fire in unincorporated Dehesa, listed at 14 acres, increased to 50% Thursday, CalFire reported on social media. It began late Wednesday afternoon.
