SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) –“Everybody’s been waiting on this for a long time,” said Ja’Shaun Poke, wide receiver for the San Diego State Aztecs football team.

It’s been more than decade since gamers have had an opportunity to scream for a brand new EA Sports college football game.

Aztecs football players got a chance to play the highly anticipate “EA Sports College Football 25” a day before its official release on Thursday.

Debut date announced for pandas at San Diego Zoo, along with video

“You grow up wanting to be in a game like ‘Madden’ or college football, and they took it away,” explained Poke. “But it’s a blessing because it’s my last year and they just start making it again, and I’m on it.”

The new deal allows any player that agreed to appear in the game to receive $600 and a free copy.

“It was honestly a blessing and I was really happy they did that for us,” said AJ Duffy, a quarterback for the Aztecs.

An event was held Thursday, giving fans a chance to get autographs and meet the Aztecs players ahead of the season.

“For the community to really get to know who’s underneath the helmet right in these events, it really allows our fan base to get to see who our guys are,” said Aztecs Head Coach, Sean Lewis.

The Aztecs are gearing up for the first game of the season against Texas A&M on Aug. 31 at Snapdragon Stadium.

“They’re dangerous,” said Lewis. “They’re a worthy opponent — they all are.”
