SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — A man suspected of shooting and killing a woman during a home invasion robbery last week in Talmadge was arrested, authorities said.

Robert Madden, 35, was arrested on suspicion of murder, Lt. Daniel Meyer with the San Diego Police Department said in a news release Monday.

The shooting occurred on Monday, July 15 inside an apartment complex in the 4400 block of Euclid Avenue.

Officers found a 38-year-old woman, identified as Senait Legesse, dead at the scene with at least one gunshot wound, police said.

Authorities determined a 59-year-old man was inside his apartment with Legesse when an unknown suspect, armed with a firearm, entered the apartment and robbed the man of his wallet.

“The victim tried to intervene in the robbery, and she was shot by the suspect,” Meyer said. “The suspect then fled on foot.”

On Friday morning, Madden was arrested at 4900 University Avenue, per SDPD. His arraignment is set for Wednesday at 1:30 p.m.

Anyone with information regarding this incident is encouraged to call the Homicide Unit at 619-531-2293 or Crime Stoppers at 888-580-8477.
