Spencer Grammer , Harland Williams, Will Friedle, Harry Lennix, Juliana Harkavy and John DiMaggio are among the performers comprising the ensemble voice cast of the animated sci-fi comedy movie Isla Monstro .

Hailing from multimedia company Abyssmal Entertainment, the feature has completed production and launches promotion at San Diego Comic-Con with a booth and a panel taking place Saturday. The project is directed and animated by Steven Shea ( Surviving Supercon ), who co-wrote the script with James Schrader, and it is currently seeking distribution.

Isla Monstro centers on ne’er-do-well Duke (voiced by Schrader), who falls off a cruise ship and awakens on an abandoned, top secret government island that is rampant with mutants and monsters left over from a failed “super soldier” mission from the 1980s. Duke concocts a scheme to convert the island into a high-class resort getaway with the creatures serving as staff, which does not please the U.S. government.

Rounding out the expansive voice cast are James Marsters, Barry Bostwick, Christopher Sabat, Maurice LaMarche, Dana Snyder, J LaRose, Andre Gower, Kristina Klebe, Dia Frampton and LeeAnna Vamp.

The film is illustrated by Logan Van Der Wolf, Zia Izzy, Elly Karipides and Chickenz. Rob Reider composed the original music. A comic book series, merchandise and a video game app are also in development from the brand.

Isla Monstro’ s SDCC panel takes place Saturday in Room 6DE and includes a Q&A with the cast and filmmakers, along with a sneak peek at the movie. Additionally, its spot at Booth 1901 will be fashioned into a tiki bar, where there will be autograph sessions with the cast, plus an exclusive comic book and merchandise.

“This was a project born out of the pandemic,” Shea said in a statement. “Knowing that I’d be stuck in lockdown, I tried to figure out ways to produce content without anyone leaving their homes. Animation was the key. So I took online tutorials, taught myself animation and started to create this film with friends. I spent over a year in my basement animating, with an entire crew of 12 people and over 40 voice actors. This has snowballed into something much larger than I ever could have imagined!”
