Universes collided when the creatives behind Star Trek and Doctor Who assembled at San Diego Comic-Con this past weekend for a lively conversation moderated by TVLine’s Keisha Hatchett.

Russell T. Davies, the showrunner and executive producer at the helm of the Doctor Who franchise, and Alex Kurtzman, the executive producer spearheading the Star Trek universe, teamed up to discuss the inaugural Intergalactic Friendship Day, which takes place on Tuesday, July 30.

Kurtzman spoke on the similarities between both sci-fi juggernauts, noting, “We share values. We share perspectives of the world. We want to tell stories that are illuminating about the human race. Each iteration of The Doctor and each iteration of Trek has endeavored to do that for every generation that it serves. It’s that beautiful connection.”

With both EPs joining forces to celebrate Intergalactic Friendship Day, that begs the question: Should we expect a Doctor Who and Star Trek crossover at some point?

“We would love to bring you a crossover episode and the way we can make that happen is the fans,” Davies said. “The fans continue to make crossover art, and stories and continue to ask and push to bring these two universes together. Because we must get together. It must happen.”

For now, fans can enjoy a crossover storyline via two mobile games from East Side Games beginning on Aug. 1.: Star Trek: Lower Decks Mobile and Doctor Who: Lost in Time .

Both games will offer the same story from two different perspectives when “a mysterious space-time ripple that throws the Doctor onboard Star Trek: Lower Deck’s U.S.S. Cerritos , while Lieutenant Brad Boimler and Ensign Beckett Mariner find themselves thrust into the enigmatic Doctor Who universe,” per the official description. “With the ripple disrupting the very fabric of reality, the Doctor must join forces with the resourceful crew of the Cerritos, while Boimler and Mariner team up with the legendary River Song. Together, they race against time to repair the ripple and set things right.”

What do you think? Would you like to see a live-action Star Trek and Doctor Who crossover?
