    Preview: 4 CIF San Diego Section baseball titles will be decided Thursday; here's a look at the matchups

    CIF San Diego Section Baseball Championships

    When: Thursday

    Admission: $15 adults, $9 students and seniors. Tickets are available at gofan.co./app/school/cifsd. Tickets WILL NOT be available at the door.

    Division 5: (5) Kearny (19-9) vs. (2) Mount Miguel (14-16), 4 p.m.

    Where: UCSD's Triton Field

    Parking: Parking is available in lots P701 & P702. There is a charge.

    Preview: Kearny raced through the playoffs with wins over Mountain Empire, No. 1-seeded Coast Academy and Army-Navy. The Komets are led by Nicolas Hembera, who has 36 RBIs, and Laird Eaton, who has knocked in 27. ... Mount Miguel cruised to the title game with wins over El Cajon Valley, High Tech-San Diego and Orange Glen. The Matadors are led by Junior Ettleman, who has 26 RBIs, and Alfredo Rodriguez, who has driven in 18. ... Mount Miguel beat Kearny 13-5 in March.

    Division 1: (4) San Marcos (17-14) vs. (2) Poway (22-10), 4 p.m.

    Where: USD's Fowler Park

    Parking: Parking is available in the structure near the baseball field. There is a charge.

    Preview: San Marcos is the third team from the Coastal North County League to reach a championship game. The Knights edged La Costa Canyon 2-1 Wednesday to get to the title game. San Marcos is led by Max Farrell, who is hitting .374 with 7 HRs and 26 RBIs. JJ Moran checks in at .365 with 7 HRs and 28 RBIs. The Knights last won a championship in 2017, winning Division 2. ... Poway, the Palomar League champion, beat Del Norte 4-3 to advance to the title game. The Titans are led by Parker Smith, who is hitting .347 with 26 RBIs and Trevor Tse, who is hitting .291 with 19 RBIs. The Titans last won a CIF title in 2015, capturing Division 1.

    Division 5AA: (2) Rock Academy (16-9) vs. (1) Calvin Christian (21-13), 7 p.m

    Where: UCSD's Triton Field

    Parking: Parking is available in lots P701 & P702. There is a charge.

    Preview: Rock outscored Vincent Memorial, Ocean View Christian and Bonsall 34-9 on the way to the title game. Quentin Uhland, who is hitting .453 with 28 RBIs, and Diego Munoz, who is hitting .379 with 5 HRs and 21 RBIs, are the team leaders. ... Calvin Christian beat Liberty Charter, then had one-run decisions over Borrego Springs and Liberty Charter in a rematch. Cole Souders leads the Crusaders, hitting .542 with 34 RBIs. Tyler Hoff checks in at .488 with 32 RBIs.

    Open Division: (2) Torrey Pines (22-10) vs. (1) Rancho Bernardo (24-7), 7 p.m.

    Where: USD's Fowler Park

    Parking: Parking is available in the structure near the baseball field. There is a charge.

    Preview: Both teams had to win a winner-take-all game Wednesday. Torrey Pines got a superb pitching performance to edge Granite Hills . The Falcons are led by center fielder/pitcher Peyton Rodgers, shortstop Thomas Maher and right fielder Jack Swanberg .... Rancho Bernardo came alive Wednesday to beat Cathedral Catholic 9-3 and earn a spot in the title game. The Broncos are led by Theo Kim (22 RBIs), Hudson Bradvica (.329 average, 15 RBIs), Brady Strachan (.352, 16 RBIs) and Hugo Gonzalez (17 RBIs) ... The teams are both from the Coastal North County League. Torrey Pines won the first game of the three-game league series with Rancho Bernado taking the next two. ... Torrey Pines last won a section title in 2018. Rancho Bernardo's last championship was in 2015.
