    Preview: Division 2, 4 softball titles will be determined Friday night at UCSD

    CIF San Diego Section Softball Championships

    When: Friday

    Where: Triton Softball Field, UCSD

    Admission: $15 for adults, $9 for students and seniors. Tickets are available at gofan.com./app/school/cifsd. Tickets will be available at the door with credit or debit only. No cash.

    Parking: Parking is available in the lot near the Hopkins Parking Structure.

    Division 4: (1) Santa Fe Christian (20-3-1) vs. (10) Coastal Academy (14-16), 4 p.m.

    Preview: Santa Fe Christian is seeking its third section final in five appearances, winning in 1985 and 1997. Its last appearance was in 2013. In their three postseason games this year, the Eagles have outscored their opponents 30-6 with a pair of shutouts. Seniors Olivia Anderson and Bryn Henson have been two-way stars. Anderson is 11-1 with a 0.97 ERA and a .456 batting average; Henson is 7-2 with a 1.78 ERA and batting .458. ... Coastal Academy, the lowest seed still in competition, is no stranger to winning a sectional title. Last year, the Stingrays beat Liberty Charter to win the Division 4 title. This postseason, they have taken down No. 7 Fallbrook, No. 2 Morse and No. 11 Maranatha Christian by a combined score of 20-5... The Eagles got the best of the Stringrays in their two Coastal League matchups this year, winning 16-1 and 6-2 over a five-day period.

    Division 1: (3) Otay Ranch (16-12) vs. (4) Steele Canyon (22-7-1), 7 p.m.

    Preview: Despite starting the season 2-8, Otay Ranch is back in the finals for the fourth straight year. The Mustangs won Division 2 in 2021, Open Division in 2022 and are seeking a second straight Division 1 crown. ... Steele Canyon won back-to-back titles in 2006 and 2007. Its last appearance was 2017. The Cougars rebounded from a quarterfinal loss to Carlsbad with wins over RBV, a rematch with Carlsbad and back-to-back wins over Grossmont Hills rival Granite Hills to advance to the final. Steele Canyon and Otay Ranch have not faced each other this season.
