Crypt Keeper statue stolen from Burbank horror museum; $500 reward offered
A beloved Crypt Keeper statue was stolen from The Mystic Museum in Burbank on Sunday.The horror museum, which features art and unique interactive exhibits, shared a video of the alleged suspect on social media.You can see the person going to the back of the store, placing the statue in a bag and walking away.The museum also released an image of the statue on Instagram, asking the public for help. California physician pleads guilty to $3.2M fraud
A Santa Paula (Calif.) physician pleaded guilty in federal court to one count of healthcare fraud for defrauding Medicare out of more than $3 million. While working at two different Pasadena-based hospices –– Arcadia Hospice Provider nad Saint Mariam Hospice –– Victor Contreras, MD, billed Medicare for medically unnecessary hospice services, according to a July 24 news release.

The Pasadena Water and Power (“PWP”) Clean Energy Tracker, providing information on key clean energy targets and milestones, is available online. In a press release, Pasadena Water and Power, a community-owned utility, stated that the launch of the clean energy tracker further demonstrates PWP’s commitment to the successful implementation of Resolution 9977 (approved by the Pasadena City Council on January 30, 2023), and sets a goal to source 100% of Pasadena’s electricity from carbon-free sources by the end of 2030. The resolution, incorporated into PWP’s 2023 Power Integrated Resource Plan (IRP), accelerates California’s clean energy targets by 15 years, and demonstrates an ambitious approach to achieving Pasadena’s carbon-free future.

Homeless Man Stabs 60-Year-Old, Suspect Arrested
A homeless man has been arrested by LAPD after stabbing a 60-year-old man in Venice on July 24, authorities confirmed. At around 8:45 a.m. Wednesday, at the intersection of Washington Boulevard and Lincoln Boulevard, first responders arrived after receiving reports of the incident. The suspect was described as an adult Black male armed with a knife. The injured victim requested a rescue ambulance. At the time of this writing, LAPD did not have an update on his condition.
