    Liam's List: Mini Night Market at Oceanaut, SF Orchid Festival, Cultivar Wine & Kitchen Wine

    FOODIE FRIDAY: Z AND Y PEKING DUCK
    Crispy, golden, yummy Peking duck is the star of the show at Z & Y Peking Duck on Jackson street, San Francisco. The duck takes some serious prepping: it’s parboiled, glazed and roasted. It’s then finely carved tableside and served with cucumbers and scallions, housemade hoisin sauce, fine sugar with thin pancakes. It comes with a price tag ($78) for whole or ($48) for half. If you want to go really big go for the caviar option ($158). Order your duck ahead of time as there is a daily limit (40) & one hour prep is required. However, there is more than duck offered on the menu & many items for the culinary adventurous:

    - Braised OX Tail w/ Red Wine in pot
    - Crab served whole in spicy broth
    - Frog In Mini Flaming Pot
    - Red Oil Xiao Long Bau
    - Spicy Duck Blood
    - Wan Zhou Grilled Whole Fish

    Z & Y Peking duck boasts a private downstairs dining room for large parties. You can have a more intimate experience upstairs with a seat at the bar alongside the duck prep theatre. Z & Y Peking duck is open for Lunch Friday - Sunday 11:30 A.M. - 3:30 P.M. and Dinner Monday & Wednesday- Sunday 5:00 P.M.- 9:30 P.M.

    Chef Lijun Han, a master chef in the art of cooking Peking duck at the helm here. I spoke to his business partner Jennifer Chen about the history of Peking duck and why folks in San Francisco can’t get enough of it:

    Come one come all as the Lunar new year - year of the dragon - continues with a night market in the Avenues, SF this Friday from 4 P.M. - 8 P.M.

    This small playground Little Oceanauts is all about the eats today for the kids and kids in all of us. Enjoy.

    FESTIVAL: TIMELESS ORCHIDS IN SF
    For years I struggled to keep my orchids alive and then I went to the SF Orchid Festival and I have never looked back.  This weekend from 10 A.M. - 4 P.M., head to the SF County Fair building on 9th Avenue and enjoy thousands of orchid flowers and plants. They are all for sale by members of the San Francisco Orchid Society as well as 20+ local, national & international nurseries.

    Hands-on demonstrations will be conducted by experts with information about successfully growing and blooming.

    WINE PARTY: CULTIVAR WINE IN SF
    Cultivar Wine & Kitchen is a new spot in Ghirardelli Square and you are invited.
    There is seating for nine at the indoor tasting counter and outdoor patio seating with a high-top bar that are perfect for socializing.

    As for the tasty food menu & wine pairings:

    - Cheese & Charcuterie with traditional accouterments ($32);
    - Hummus served with Caspar Estate extra virgin olive oil, sourdough crostini and crudité ($14); - White Truffle Caesar Salad with pecorino romano and sourdough bread croutons ($14);
    - Grilled Cheese Sandwich on sourdough with white cheddar cheese and parmigiano reggiano ($14);
    - Tomato Soup with Cultivar Cabernet Sauvignon, cream, Caspar Estate Extra Virgin Olive Oil ($10);
    - Chocolate Cheesecake with maraschino cherries and whipped cream ($12).

    I think I may have found a new fave spot for yummy bites & a bounty of beautiful wines in SF. See you at the opening party on Thursday February 22nd, from 6 P.M. - 8 P.M.

    On Thursday February 29th from  6 P.M. - 9 P.M., it’s the battle of the burgers with Chef Dan V Foodie Chap. Ooh that’s me in the cook off of all cook offs! The event will be streamed live via PR Kitchen on instagram. Aprons on, gloves off. Let’s do this ! BTW - some wonderful Priest Ranch Wines will be poured and popping!
