Amongst the many subplots looming over this Warriors season is the future of head coach Steve Kerr, whose contract expires this offseason.

Anthony Slater of The Athletic joined The Morning Roast Thursday morning and discussed how he views the situation, amongst other things.

Slater was asked whether he believed it was likelier for Steve Kerr or Klay Thompson to remain around after this season. He not-so-jokingly pointed out it was a question that set him up to be aggregated.

He said, speculatively, that he thinks it's more likely for Kerr to remain than Thompson. One major factor is that Thompson's contract has major cap ramifications. He thinks Kerr will end up signing an extension with Joe Lacob this offseason.

"Steve Kerr, the money's not taxed," Slater said. :You know, as long as both sides want to be around. Everything Steve Kerr has said is he wants to coach long term, every time I've talked to him on or off the record. He's very motivated to continue coaching the Warriors. And you know, Joe Lacob has only said and shown that he that he does want Steve Kerr here long term. So I think they'll come to an agreement. It's just about dollar amount eventually."

The Warriors return to action against the Los Angeles Lakers Thursday night at 7 p.m.
