CHEF INTERVIEW: PAULA TEJEDA, CHILE LINDO
Meet Paula Tejeda, the community leader and culinary star behind Chile Lindo Kitchen Culture. I knew her back in the day (in the 90’s) as the Girl from Empeñada but really New York with Chilean roots. Paula went bar to club, street corner to kitchen pop up in San Francisco selling her yummy, happy tummy inducing empanadas. For almost 30 years she has fed locals in the mission from her cafe in the Redstone building on 16th street. She recently moved into a new spot across the street, an intimate gathering place for community where conversation and coffee or vino flows and the waft of wonderful freshly baked empanadas fill the air.

EVENT: CHINESE NEW YEAR PARADE
This Saturday at 5 P.M., come one come all to one of the biggest events on the Bay Area event calendar: Chinese New Year Parade . Dancers and drummers, floats filled with community leaders and pageant stars will line the streets of ChinaTown. Get a seat in the bleachers for the best viewing. It’s the year of the dragon too so the dancing dragons will be especially electric this year.
EVENT: SMASH BURGER COOK OFF
It’s the battle of the burgers with Chef Dan V Foodie Chap - ooh that’s me in the culinary cook off of all cook offs at The Kitchen at Priest Ranch , Yountville. On Thursday February 29th, 6 P.M. - 9 P.M., this epic epicurean event will be streamed live via PR Kitchen on instagram. Aprons on, gloves off. Let’s do this! BTW - some wonderful Priest Ranch Wines will also be poured and popping!
STREAMING: ONE DAY
I may be two weeks late to the binge party but this series is worthy of a weekend binge.Netflix’s One Day tells the story of two lifelong friends who weave in and out of each other’s lives over twenty years starting at their college graduation in the 80’s. They both endure high and lows, successes and failings. All you want is for these to get together and unite in the way you feel they should. Do they ? I shall give nothing away here. This 14 part series moves slowly at first but hooks you quickly, all praise on the two leads Dexter (Leo Woodall) and Emma (Ambika Mod). You root for them, you laugh and cry with them - all the feels and that’s why this show is winning viewers by the millions and the thumbs up by critics around the globe. The soundtrack is stellar, so good in fact I went quickly to Apple to stream after watching.
Warning: once you start viewing One Day , you’ll simply have to finish! Find a rainy day soon to enjoy.
