It's hard to think of anyone else as more of a draft coup than Trayce Jackson-Davis? The Warriors rookie center has been a revelation this season, especially with his run-sparking performance against Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Milwaukee Bucks.

Jackson-Davis joined Willard and Dibs Friday afternoon and discussed a variety of things, from his draft night snub, feeling like he belongs in the league

He said that things were moving for him quickly early in the year, but now, he knows, "I belong out there." That confidence is not surprising, especially given how draft night played out. Jackson-Davis was considered by some to be a fringe first-round selection, but fell to the end of the second round.

Golden State selected him 57th overall, after he had tweeted out the following:

Jackson-Davis revealed that there was more to the story, saying that the Warriors tried to get him as early as pick 35 in the draft, but couldn't find a second-round selection until much later.

"The night was a little crazy," Jackson-Davis said. "It was a little shocking. So my main agent James Dunleavy, is obviously Mike's brother, our GM. And so I guess they were talking behind the scenes but they didn't want to tell me anything.

"Because James wanted me to go to the Golden State because he thought that was the best fit. But there were three or four other teams that were looking to get me between like 20 and 40. But James said that they didn't want it to be on a two-way [contract] and so they said if you offer him a roster spot, then we'll come. But the Warriors were the only team that said we'll offer you that and by pick 35-ish I think they were trying to get another pick.

"I didn't know this at the time so I was upset. So I'm just watching the draft and watching all these dudes go before me and then by pick 50 I'm like, 'Okay, I'm upset. I'm tweeting this out.' And then pick 57 comes, and then [the Warriors] finally got one and everything squared away. And then they told me afterwards that they were trying to get a pick from pick 35. I said, 'Well, if I would have known that I probably wouldn't have tweeted that out.' But it is what it is."

Jackson-Davis has become a major contributor for the Warriors. His increased role led to the first DNP for Kevon Looney in 289 games, the second-longest streak in the NBA.
