The San Francisco Giants have made a splash. After failing to secure major free agents, the Giants took a swing Monday night and secured the services of former Padres ace and 2-time Cy Young winner Blake Snell.

According to multiple reports, the deal is a 2-year, $62 million deal with an opt-out after the second season.

Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports that it comes with a $17 million signing bonus payable in January of 2026, along with a $15 million salary in 2024.

Snell, 31, is the National League's reigning Cy Young winner. He posted a league-best 2.25 ERA, but also led the league with 99 walks in 180 innings. In his 27 starts, he exceeded six innings just three times, all seven-inning outings.

Regardless of his issues with walks, the signing gives the Giants a monumental boost in a rotation that now has Snell, Logan Webb, Kyle Harrison as an enticing three, and some amalgamation of Jordan Hicks, Alex Cobb, Keaton Winn, Tristan Beck and Robbie Ray, depending on health.
