Anthony Slater discusses why lack of Andrew Wiggins production is not surprising

This season continues to be one to forget for Andrew Wiggins. The Warriors wing is averaging a career-low 12.1 points, 1.7 assists, and 0.6 steals per game.

Anthony Slater, who joined the Morning Roast Wednesday morning, was asked what to make of Wiggins' disappointing season.

Slater was not all that surprised when asked whether he's seen any drop-off of this nature.

"I mean, he scored a little bit better early in his career, but it's not like he was an All-Star for eight years and then suddenly at age 29, he did this," Slater said. "I mean, what was the rep on him coming out of Minnesota? Why was he available? Why did he come with what ended up being the seventh overall pick for D'Angelo Russell? I mean, he did this in Minnesota.

"There were several seasons where, yeah, sure the counting stats were a little bit better than this year. He's down to 12.6 points per game when he was typically in the 17, 18, 19 range in Minnesota, but it was like, they never felt the impact on winning, the impact on the game. I think that's been, at times, what you've certainly felt this season, part of last season."

All that said, Slater said that there are plenty of other reasons for the Warriors woes, especially on the defensive end, and outlined them after being asked about Wiggins. Listen to the full interview above.
