The Warriors are three wins away from, at the very least, hosting a play-in game. There is a path for them to get up to the 7/8 seed game, but that will require some help elsewhere.

As great as they've played, there is still a very likely scenario that they will have to win back-to-back games just to make it into the playoffs. If that happens, does that mean the end of the big three?

Anthony Slater joined the Morning Roast Thursday morning and discussed the play-in, and how those results could affect whether Klay Thompson sticks around. Slater pointed out that the Warriors need to go 3-0, otherwise they'll likely be the 10 seed.

If that happens, and they flame out, that could mean they lose Klay Thompson this offseason. Slater assessed the situation, saying that he believes it's likely Thompson returns, but that it depends on the ending of this season.

"We'll see. I think what happens to close the season matters," Slater said. "If they flame out, if the Warriors management, ownership, suddenly has a desire to really limit spending, because they just spent historically and got a nine-10 seed that flamed out on April 18, with zero playoff home games and made zero playoff money, that might, again, lessen the motivation to really kind of throttle up the cash.

"Then the other thing is, what will he get on the open market? He's played himself, I think, into a much more likely payday. We'll see what that payday is, and then I think the negotiations that happen illegally, I guess you could say, in May and June, before July, will matter.

"I mean, clearly with Draymond Green. We didn't know and he didn't know and he thought there was a timer. He said that there was a time he thought he was going to Memphis. And the Warriors ended up paying up and giving him the deal.

"I think, end of the day, just because it's always been proven that the Warriors, Joe Lacob, ends up paying and trying to bring back the core guys, like he did with Steve Kerr, like he tried to do with Bob Myers, like he's always done with Steph Curry, like they tried to do with KD. KD would have still been there if he wanted to be. I do think they probably get something done. But I do think how this season ends and the taste that's in everybody's mouth, Klay's mouth, the Warriors' mouth, I think that matters."
