Bruce Bochy salutes Warriors as dynasty winds down: 'What a run they had'

Bruce Bochy knows a thing or two about putting together an impressive run in San Francisco, and he has nothing but high praise for what the Golden State Warriors have accomplished.

With their play-in tournament loss to the Kings on Tuesday, a Warriors season that struggled to ever really get off the ground is now over. Klay Thompson’s future in the Bay Area seems uncertain, especially after his woeful showing against Sacramento. With the Warriors on a precipitous decline since winning the NBA Finals two years ago, their status as a dynasty is beginning to wane -- particulaty with changes likely afoot this offseason.

Bochy, of course, knows what it’s like to have such success, winning three titles in five years with the Giants in the early 2010s before the Warriors picked up where they left off. The now-Texas Rangers manager isn’t sure the dynasty is officially over, but marveled at their success Wednesday on Shan & RJ.

“What a run they had," Bochy said. "Steve (Kerr) does such a great job there, we would spend some time together. He’d come over and catch some games, good baseball fan but unfortunately more of a Dodger fan. But still, they were so big in the Bay Area, as they should have been, because of their domination. And then, of course, when they moved to the city they were just a few blocks from where the ballpark is where the Giants play. It was really convenient.

“It is one of the longer runs we’ve had in sports franchise. Of course Curry, with what he has done to help carry that, but really so many of them did a tremendous job of playing together as one. I enjoyed watching them, they were a close-knit group. I don’t know if it’s over or not, but it’s definitely not quite the same, we know that.”
