If anyone knows the glory and perils of quarterbacking for the San Francisco 49ers, it's Hall of Famer Steve Young. The legend joined Willard and Dibs Tuesday afternoon to talk all things 49ers.

He was asked whether Brock Purdy is legitimately good or just a product of the 49ers' system. He outlined what makes Purdy unique.

"Well you know he's good because -- your eyeball test watches him make decisions and how fast he is as a processor," Young said. And yeah Jimmy Garoppolo did this. Yes. Colin Kaepernick did this. Like 49er quarterbacks have done this before, but I think the thing that makes him unique is that his processing power is so evident."

But can Purdy lead the 49ers to win a Super Bowl? Young said he'll have to show he can make plays in key moments, in the games that matter most.

"The challenge for him is that in championship football, where he wants to hang out, his processing power can let him hang out as long as he has enough talent around him," Young said. "You have to be able to go get those yards with your legs that all the other guys do in those championship formats, big first downs, big touchdowns.

"And to Brock, he's got to figure out, if I'm gonna be a guy that's gonna bang the door down. Let's just say they have an A-plus roster today. Let's say they have an A roster then, and a B-plus roster in a couple years. Can he be that guy that has that ability to go be that dynamic force that Josh Allen is, that Patrick Mahomes is. Because those are the guys that are going to win those championship games because the yards are there."

Listen to the full interview below. Young addresses why he thinks the 49ers missed their best chance at a Super Bowl.
