Brandon Aiyuk posts cryptic TikTok video featuring Jayden Daniels saying 'they don't want me back'

Looks like we might be on Brandon Aiyuk watch in DC and beyond, and it’s because of…Brandon Aiyuk?

The disgruntled 49ers receiver posted a video on TikTok Monday morning of a FaceTime call with Commanders QB Jayden Daniels, titled (sic) ‘Im laughing but im crying fr’, in which Aiyuk asks Daniels to turn his camera around to himself (as he was watching a 49ers game) and a female voice (possibly Aiyuk’s longtime girlfriend Rochelle Searight) says, ‘he’s got me vlogging this (expletive).’

Daniels then asks Aiyuk ‘what happened’ and Aiyuk says, ‘they said they don’t want me back.’ Daniels breaks into a smile and yells something that sounds like “MAMA!” and the female voice says ‘oh my Lord!’ as the video cuts off.

Aiyuk has been in the midst of negotiations with the Niners on a contract extension, as he is set to make $14.1 million in 2024 on the final year of his rookie contract – a salary he will earn as multiple receivers in his class have signed huge extensions of late.

Mike Silver of the San Francisco Chronicle has reported that the Niners’ most recent offer was ‘in the $26 million range,’ which is in less than Justin Jefferson and Jaylen Waddle, among others, and now ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler reported over the weekend that negotiations ‘have stalled.’

Aiyuk and Daniels go all the way back to Arizona State, as they played together in 2019 when Daniels was the first true freshman to start at QB in a season opened for the Sun Devils and Aiyuk was in his second and final year in Tempe before becoming a first-round pick in 2020. Aiyuk was his top receiver that season, catching 65 balls for 1192 yards and 8 TD, as Daniels threw for 2943 yards and 17 TD overall.

Arizona State is also where Aiyuk and Searight met, so it’s plausible she could be the third voice as she would also know Daniels.

Aiyuk had 75 catches for a career-high 1342 yards and seven TD for the Niners last season, and has averaged 63 yards per game in four years in San Francisco – and if he were disgruntled enough and somehow joined Jayden in DC, he would immediately become an impact WR2 behind Terry McLaurin, with third-rounder Luke McCaffrey, 2023 first-rounder Jahan Dotson, and others battling behind them for the backup receiver spots.
