San Francisco has become a nightmare

In the Planet of the Apes franchise, San Francisco is shown in the future as one of the few remaining human colonies. The city is overgrown with vegetation, and the buildings are crumbling, while the human government is incompetent and living under the constant threat of being attacked by mutant gorillas. Despite all this, the fictional San Francisco still might be a better place to live than the real city.

During a recent debate between Democrats running for mayor, incumbent London Breed challenged another candidate to name “three LGBTQ advisors for your campaign and three drag queens.” Though he failed to do that, he spoke about how he was incredibly supportive of LGBT issues, insisting that “two members of my staff” are “from the queer community.”

The day after the mayoral candidates fought over who could name more crossdressers, a study was released that ranked San Francisco as the worst-run city in the United States. While it has been at the forefront of radical left-wing politics for decades, San Francisco’s recent shortcomings are failures to an unprecedented degree. Even liberal outlets such as the New Yorker and CNN have started to take note.

Crime is out of control , causing numerous retailers to flee downtown San Francisco. The oldest toy store in the city, which served as the inspiration for the Toy Story franchise, was forced to close its doors because of the “perils and violence of the downtown environment.”

Closely related to crime is San Francisco’s rising homeless population and rampant public drug usage. The city is not serious about actually solving these problems, and even spends $5 million every year on alcohol for the homeless. Additionally, when Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) debated former San Francisco mayor and current Gov. Gavin Newsom (D-CA), he presented a “poop map” that tracked the high number of human feces found on the city’s streets.

San Francisco's school district is struggling as well, recently hitting a $420 million budget deficit and having to start a process of identifying which schools can be merged or closed.

These issues consistently plague the city’s citizens, unless the Chinese President Xi Jinping is visiting. In that case, San Francisco cleaned its streets so that they would look nice for the genocidal maniac. The homeless encampments were temporarily cleared, needles were picked up off the sidewalks, and trash was swept away. But when the Chinese Communist Party left town, everything went back to being a dumpster fire.

San Francisco’s slow descent from one of the most beautiful cities in America to an apocalyptic hellscape is depressing, but it was all a result of policy decisions. The city’s voters keep electing people who will continue to go down the path of destruction, so any proposed solution will only fall on deaf ears.

San Francisco is merely a skeleton of its former self, and it was blown up by maniacs .
