Klay Thompson Reportedly Leaning One Way Amid Warriors, Free Agency Rumors

Klay Thompson's entire NBA career has been spent with the Golden State Warriors.

Set to become a free agent later this summer, Thompson's time with the team that drafted him may soon be coming to an end.

According to The Athletic's Anthony Slater , contract talks between Thompson and the Warriors are "essentially frozen." However, even if Golden State can come up with a reasonable offer for Thompson, Slater contends that it's become " increasingly conceivable " that the five-time All-Star leaves Golden State regardless.

"Even if the Warriors eventually approach Thompson with a competitive offer, matching or exceeding the money and years, it has become increasingly conceivable, according to league sources, that Thompson will decide to leave regardless..." Slater reported Saturday.

Thompson, 34, appeared in 77 games for Golden State in 2023-24.

He averaged 17.9 points, 2.3 assists and 3.3 rebounds in 29.7 minutes per game, however, struggled from an efficiency standpoint. He shot just 43.2 percent from the field on the season - the third-worst mark of his career.
