NBA Insider Reveals Warriors' Toxic Klay Thompson Issue

    By Ernest Leo Hernandez,

Klay Thompson divorced the Golden State Warriors after 11 seasons and opted to continue his NBA career with the Dallas Mavericks, entering the 2024–25 season. The departure of the six-foot-nine shooter opened a can of worms as a team insider revealed what went on behind the scenes.

The Golden State Warriors formed their own 'Big 3' with Steph Curry, Draymond Green and Klay Thompson through the NBA draft, and it rewarded them with four NBA championships in six years. This feat is envied by many NBA teams and the Warriors fan base expects to have all three players retire with the team.

Things changed during the 2023-24 season as Klay Thompson saw a decline in his production, and at the same time, the team failed to make it into the 2024 NBA playoffs.

Aside from Klay Thompson's struggles, the Warriors also had to deal with Draymond Green's antics, resulting in multiple suspensions and missed games.

When many thought Green was being a burden to the Warriors, Jason Dumas of KRON4 News revealed to 95.7 The Game how Thompson was in the team's locker room.

"The last three years—I know Draymond has punched people and got himself suspended on the court—But Klay has been equally as exhausting behind the scenes," said Dumas at the 'Willard & Dibs' show.

Dumas also said that Thompson has shown irrational behavior behind the scenes. The four-time NBA champion's actions also made the Warriors locker room an uncomfortable place to be, similar to his teammate Draymond Green.

"It's not as loud. It's not as loud because it's not you stomping on someone’s chest. If he's slamming stuff on the bench and sulking, and doing that on the court, how do you think it is in practice? How do you think it is in the locker room? It has been uncomfortable. It has. It just doesn't come out as loudly as Draymond Green."

Klay Thompson will now have a fresh start, as he joined the Dallas Mavericks on a three-year, $50 million contract through a sign-and-trade deal. He will now team up with Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving after the Mavs lost to the Boston Celtics in the 2024 NBA Finals.
