The Klay Thompson era with the Warriors is over. The four-time champion and future Hall of Fame wing is heading to Dallas on a three-year, $50 million deal in a sign-and-trade deal.

It is one of the highest-profile splits in NBA history. Given all the emotional and financial considerations, The Athletic's Anthony Slater joined the Morning Roast to break it down Tuesday morning. This is after Slater wrote a detailed breakdown on the breakup earlier in the day. When was it over? How did the split happen? Slater first answered why Stephen Curry did not get involved.

"I was told that Klay basically requested of Steph, 'Don't exert your influence. Don't demand that they do right by me financially. I want them to want to,'" Slater paraphrased Thompson as saying.

By that point, Slater said, Thompson was already heading out the door. This was long decided, and it culminated with no Warriors offer hitting the table.

"The closer you got to June 30th, the lack of communication, the messaging from Klay's side was it's over," Slater said. "That was made very clear early. There was no free agency pitch. There was never an offer the Warriors were able to make to Klay Thompson. It's really been over for a while."

It's a stark conclusion to Thompson's tenure. Read Slater's breakdown here and listen to his full interview above.
