Draymond Green Blasts Clippers For Not Trading Paul George to Warriors

The Los Angeles Clippers failed to retain Paul George after losing him in free agency to the Philadelphia 76ers. They're left empty-handed and now must find a way to replace the superstar small forward. However, Draymond Green torched the franchise for not trading George to the Golden State Warriors.
During a segment on The Draymond Green Show , the Warriors star forward called out the Clippers for not doing Paul George right in the offseason. Green believes Los Angeles failed to show George loyalty by not conducting a sign-and-trade deal to send George to the Warriors. It's not clear whether or not a deal like that was in motion. But Green seems adamant it's what Paul George wanted.
"Paul George was gonna come to the Warriors. We wanted Paul George to come to the Warriors… The Clippers didn't really want to play ball. Didn't want to help him get to where he wanted to go, so in turn they get nothing back…"
After making the claim that Paul George wanted to play for the Warriors, Draymond Green goes off on the Clippers for not showing George any loyalty. The star power froward claims that, "Most of these organizations ain't loyal."
The NBA is a business. Players and organizations alike make decisions that's best for them. Perhaps Paul George genuinely had interest in playing for the Warriors. But if that's even remotely true, was Golden State offering a trade package that at least enticed LA? George has made no public statements about wanting to play for the Warriors. So for now, Green's comments should be taken as a rumor.
The Warriors have some options on how to approach building the roster now that Klay Thompson is on the Dallas Mavericks and Chris Paul is on the San Antonio Spurs. They could opt to develop their young players or pursue other trades to acquire a veteran to play alongside Green and Stephen Curry.
It's going to be an uphill climb for Golden State. They had a magnificent run but they're on the tail end of Curry's and Green's careers. Considering both are still more than capable of playing at a high level, the Warriors likely aren't going to enter a true rebuild just yet.
There are still several remaining months in the offseason and anything can happen. Most of the big names in free agency are gone. So the Warriors will be a team to watch as a possible trade candidate for a star player in the league.
