EAT HERE: CHAPEAU!
This French bistro is a neighborhood gem on Clement Street in the Inner Richmond. They are celebrating twenty-five glorious years and you are invited to pull up a seat at the table - “mais oui!” Chapeau! is a family affair with son Andrew Gardelle on the line as the Chef de Cuisine. Executive Chef and dad, Philippe, oversees all things hospitality and works the room like a movie star with his wife Ellen on cocktails and smiles. They are open daily from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.
The cuisine at Chapeau! is as refined and creative as any French kitchen in the city. Thoughtful, seasonal highlights include escargot, roasted beet salad, and black cod in coconut broth. Classic dishes remain a staple such as house-made personal baguettes that are offered throughout the meal and my personal favorite, a French classic - cassoulet - a hug of love if ever there was.
The full bar boasts knockout cocktails by Ellen. I had the smoky Manhattan, and yes, it was indeed a kick in the pants. Merci beaucoup to the Gardelle family for giving me reason to drive across the city for one of the best meals I have had in ages. Chapeau! is one of the last bastions of family run French restaurants in San Francisco. The French atmosphere of love and passion is felt from the moment you walk in the door at Chapeau! and extends to the bar and to the plate. The service too is warm and friendly - merci, brother Christian who delivers each dish as if it is a gift from the family to you! With young Chef Andrew at the helm here, even better, more exciting things lie ahead for those who are lucky enough to dine here at Chapeau! Find it on Clement Street, San Francisco. Bon Appetit!

FREE: FILLMORE JAZZ FEST
May the trumpets sound - Fillmore Jazz Fest is back, and you are invited. The two day event is a mix of art and music as well as food and fun. It’s an eight block party, and all are welcome. Among the impressive lineup of performers are Marcus Shelby, Juan Escovedo, Kenny Washington and Paula West. The Fillmore Jazz Fest is open July 6 and July 7 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
STERN GROVE FESTIVAL: SF SYMPHONY WITH SPECIAL GUEST JESSICA VOSK

THEATRE: MRS.DOUBTFIRE
Mrs. Doubtfire tells the hysterical and heartfelt story of an out-of-work actor (Rob McClure) who will do anything for his kids. It’s “the lovable, big-hearted musical comedy we need right now,” raves the Chicago Tribune – one that proves we’re better together. If you loved the film you will for sure love this stage production. The show plays through July 28 at the Orpheum San Francisco.
