The Kings and Warriors are hosting this year’s expanded California Classic with games taking place in Sacramento and San Francisco. A battle of NorCal contest between the two squads will conclude this year’s event.

The trophy is shaped in the form of a palm tree with a gradient-colored base and white flags that represent the trunk and leaves of a tree.
The white flags will be changed one by one to the color of the jersey material worn by the winning team each year. The winning team will retain possession of the trophy until the following year’s Battle of NorCal.
The trophy is named after Mitch Richmond, who played a combined 10 seasons for the Kings and Warriors. Richmond started his 14-year NBA career with the Warriors in 1988-89 and went on to play for the Kings from 1991 to 1998.
Richmond was inducted into the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame in 2014.
“Northern California is an incredibly special place to me,” Richmond said in a press release. “I always enjoy connecting with the two fanbases that have supported me throughout the first decade of my career and beyond.”
California Classic games take place at the Golden 1 Center on July 6, 7, and 9 with the Kings hosting the San Antonio Spurs, Charlotte Hornets, and the Chinese National Team.
The Warriors will host the Kings, Los Angeles Lakers, and Miami Heat on July 6, 7, and 10 at the Chase Center.
Summer League modified rules will be put in place including 10-minute quarters.
