Philadelphia 76ers trading sharpshooter to Golden State Warriors

The Philadelphia 76ers are continuing their action-packed offseason by moving on from sharpshooter Buddy Hield, who spent half a season with the team.

The Golden State Warriors are acquiring Hield in a sign-and-trade with Philadelphia, according to The Athletic's Shams Charania.

"The Golden State Warriors have agreed to a deal acquiring Buddy Hield via sign-and-trade from the 76ers, sources tell @TheAthletic @Stadium," Charania wrote. "New teammates Hield and Stephen Curry are leaders for most 3-pointers made over the last 5 NBA seasons – and now will be teammates."

Hield's production seems to remain relatively consistent regardless of what uniform he's playing in. His averages saw a decrease across the boards last season, from 16.8 points to 12.1, but it's largely due to less time on the floor. He played 31 minutes per game with the Indiana Pacers in 2023, compared to a combined average of 25.7 between his time before and after the trade.

The Warriors are a perfect suitor for Hield after losing Stephen Curry's long-time backcourt partner, Klay Thompson. While the 31-year-old won't match the production of the other 'splash brother', he's never been afraid to shoot the ball at high volumes. He averaged 6.8 3-point attempts last season, knocking down 38.6%.

The Warriors' summer acquisitions may not step here, as they are a top-rumored landing spot for Utah Jazz star Lauri Markkanen.
