Klay Thompson Sends Warriors Fans Into Tears With Emotional Farewell

It has been almost a week since Klay Thompson officially walked away from the Golden State Warriors in favor of a big-money move to the Dallas Mavericks. During this time, multiple storylines have popped up detailing the rather unsavory nature of his breakup with the same team that drafted him 11th overall in 2011.

Despite the fact that these narratives have somewhat mired Thompson's legacy with the Warriors, there's no denying that he will forever hold a special place in the hearts and minds of the Dub Nation.

On Friday night, Thompson finally broke his silence on his departure. The five-time All-Star took to Instagram to send an emotional farewell to the Warriors faithful.

Let me warn you, though. It's a bit of a tearjerker.

"Oh Bay Area , there are not enough words and images to convey how I really feel about yall . From the bottom of my heart, thank you so much for the best times of my life. It was such an honor to put that Dubs jersey on from day 1," Klay wrote.

"I really just wanted to be the best I could be and help bring as many championships as possible to the region. The best part was not the rings though, it was the friendships I made that will last a lifetime. My family and I would like to thank all of the amazing people who work tirelessly to make the [Warriors] organization world-class. Don’t be sad it’s over, be happy it happened. Until we meet again. Sea captain out."

Every Warrior fan who came across this post has to be feeling a bit emotional right now. After all, Thompson played an undeniably integral role in building the Golden State dynasty.

True enough, the supporters got all sentimental with their reactions on Twitter:

"Damn. The absolute end of an ERA," one fan wrote.

"Talk about a tear jerker. Wow," admitted another.

"We love you Klay Go win a chip with Luka and Kyrie!" wished one supporter.

"Man this sad tbh. Watching him play in the bay, essentially grow up in the warriors system. Wish him the best in Dallas," a long-time fan commented.

"Never deserved the amount of criticism that was gaven to him," said another supporter.

"Warriors legend," chimed another along with a crying emoji.

There's a whole lot more where that came from, which just goes to show the level of attachment Thompson will forever have with the fans.
