Warriors Coach Makes Painful Admission About Klay Thompson Exit

This NBA free agency hasn't been filled with massive superstars moving around like in years past, but there are some household names on the move.

Paul George got the party started when he decided to leave the Los Angeles Clippers for the Philadelphia 76ers, and former Golden State Warriors star Klay Thompson also chose to leave his team. Unlike George, who has bounced around a bit during his NBA career, Thompson has spent all 13 of his NBA seasons with the Warriors.

He accounted for half of the duo known as the "Splash Brothers", formed by him and Steph Curry, and also has four rings to his name. While there appeared to be interest from both parties in coming to a new deal, Thompson ultimately felt it was time to move on and sign with the Dallas Mavericks.

This was something Warriors head coach Steve Kerr discussed on Saturday while at Team USA's first practice ahead of the Paris Olympics.

"I just want to say thank you to Klay Thompson for 13 incredible years, 10 of which I was there for," Kerr told the media in Las Vegas. "What he did for the team, the organization, for the Bay Area, for me personally...the relationship that we had, all of the incredible success, but importantly just going through it all together has been so meaningful and so amazing.

"We're going to miss Klay. We wish him the best. These things rarely go like you want where you get to draw it up and execute it and everybody goes out together. We were hoping that could happen. It didn't. We wish Klay well, but we love him and we'll miss him."

Aside from winning four titles with the Warriors, Thompson was also a member of Team USA's gold medal-winning 2016 Olympics team. Thompson inked a three-year, $50 million deal with Dallas.
