"I remember walking around downtown Oakland as a rookie passing out tickets" - Draymond on why he would never leave the Warriors to chase a ring

The Golden State Warriors dynasty may not officially be over, but the beginning of the end is here. As if their lackluster 2023-24 campaign wasn't enough of a sign, Klay Thompson's landing with the Dallas Mavericks via a sign-and-trade officially broke up their long-standing big three.

Stephen Curry isn't going anywhere anytime soon, but rumors about Draymond Green's future with the team have swirled as of late as well. However, it doesn't sound like the veteran forward has any intention of leaving in the near future, either.

Dray keeps it real when discussing his Dubs future

Green has been teammates with Curry and Thompson for the past 12 seasons, leading the Warriors to four titles, making them the latest dynasty in the NBA's storied history. As the guys have gotten older, though, their production has declined, leading to Klay's departure.

Steph and Draymond are still around for the time being, although it's fair to wonder whether the former Michigan Spartan and Golden State could also break up soon too. Green made it clear, though, that if there is any sort of breakup down the line, it won't be his doing.

"I remember walking around downtown Oakland as a rookie passing out tickets," Draymond Green said on The Big Podcast . "Guys getting on the bar, the train and through the rest of the Bay, passing out tickets to games. As a rookie, I remember that. That's October 2012. We won our first championship, June 2015, wasn't that far removed."

"We built this thing up from the ground. It's a different feeling for us because that's our baby, the Warriors were nothing. So to see that growth and take part in that growth, that's not something you just walk away from just to walk away from it. They'd have to not want me anymore," Green added.

Draymond is riding with the Warriors until the end

Players switch teams seemingly every single day in the NBA, so Thompson leaving the Dubs shouldn't be a huge shock. But he, Curry, and Green had spent their entire careers in Golden State to this point, turning an irrelevant squad into a perennial championship contender.

Green respects what he helped build with the Warriors, which is why he isn't going to leave, even when times get rough. Things certainly aren't looking great right now, but as long as Curry is on the court, Golden State will have a chance to win.

Draymond already has four titles to his name, so he doesn't necessarily have to go and try to win more with another team. However, given how rocky things have been for him over the past few years, it's fair to wonder whether that choice would be in his hands.

From his point of view, leaving Golden State isn't a question, and as of right now, it doesn't seem like something the team is considering either. However, if the Warriors struggle again, Green's future with the team could again come into question, even if he doesn't want it to.
