According to SF Eater , the Financial District’s “iconic” queer bar Ginger’s , which shuttered during the pandemic, has reopened for special events as of June 28 — and plans to operate with regular hours soon.
Located at 86 Hardie Place , the business is neighbor to eateries such as Green Olive, Julie’s Kitchen, and Sam’s Grill & Seafood.
Dana Marinelli , General Manager at Future Bars , tells the Journal, “Ginger’s is such an iconic queer space and the only queer space in the Financial District… So I made a very, very passionate presentation to the CEO about reopening it for Pride.”
For readers who are unfamiliar with Future Bars, the bar group operates well-known Bay Area establishments such as Bourbon and Branch, Pagan Idol, Dawn Club, and Lark Bar, among others.
Locals can expect the cocktail program to include beverages such as the “Queen Bee” — which consists of “tequila mixed with passionfruit, peach, vanilla, and a touch of habanero tincture for heat” — as well as Gina’s Diamonds, “a drink dedicated to Gina LaDivina, a regular performer at Aunt Charlie’s Lounge, the Stud, and Oasis” that features “peaflower gin, with hints of elderflower and lavender,” to name just a couple.
“Everyone just feels such a special way about it,” Marinelli tells Eater , adding, “So I really want to pay homage to the history.”
When the establishment plans to begin operating with regular hours hasn’t been announced yet, so stay tuned for updates.
