    San Francisco weekend events: Free EDM rave, Hayes Valley Carnival and more

    It's never too early to start planning your weekend.

    • Here are a few events to get you started.

    Thursday

    Celebrate the life of the late German-born poet Ruth Weiss with a "poem jam" presented by Kim Shuck, the city's seventh poet laureate.

    • 6-7:30pm at the San Francisco Main Library. Free.

    Friday

    Witness the epic-ness of film composer John Williams' most famous scores live with the San Fransisco Symphony, from "Star Wars" to "Jurassic Park."

    • 7:30pm at Davis Symphony Hall. Ticket prices vary.

    Take the kids to the "City Kids" Creator Con , an annual event geared toward ages 2-17. There will be games and opportunities to win prizes from the SF Giants, Golden State Warriors and more.

    • 10:30am-1pm at 230 Jones St. Only a parent or guardian can sign up their children.

    Saturday

    Check out gravity-defying acrobatics at the Hayes Valley Carnival , featuring Circus Bella and the Prescott Theater Circus.

    • Noon-5pm at Hayes and Octavia streets. Showings at 1 and 3pm. Free.

    Peruse arts and crafts booths, live performances and local vendors at a night market in the heart of the Richmond District.

    • 4-8pm between 22nd and 25th avenues.

    Sunday

    Swing by a daytime EDM rave featuring Sacha Robotti as the headliner. Other acts include Deron Delgado and Moody Jones.

    • 2-6pm at Embarcadero Plaza. Free.
