49ers Named Top Trade Destination For Superstar Pass Rusher

There have been plenty of trade rumors surrounding the San Francisco 49ers this offseason. After wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk formally requested a trade this week, those aren’t going to quiet down any time soon.

The 49ers don’t have much interest in trading Aiyuk currently with their championship aspirations. Advancing to and winning a Super Bowl is a lot easier with Aiyuk in the mix.

Part of the reason Aiyuk has requested a trade is because he is seeking a long-term contract extension. Given the monetary commitments the team already has, that isn’t something San Francisco has been willing to do.

It will be interesting to see if the two sides can come to an agreement that everyone is happy with. Until something is done, rumors will continue swirling involving the star wide receiver.

Alas, he isn’t the only player that will be involved in trade rumors over the next few weeks. With training camp set to start next week, there is going to be a lot of roster movement around the NFL.

One player people will be keeping an eye on is Haason Reddick. The star pass rusher was traded to the New York Jets earlier this offseason from the Philadelphia Eagles.

Seeking an extension of his own, he has yet to report to the team. That has led to him landing at No. 8 on Kristopher Knox’s NFL Trade Big Board over at Bleacher Report.

New York isn’t going to move Reddick in the coming days, but if something doesn’t happen with his contract, it could be a lost cause. If that is the route this goes, Knox has suggested the 49ers as a potential landing spot.

“The San Francisco 49ers have a strong pass-rushing tandem after adding Leonard Floyd in free agency to complement Nick Bosa. However, a team with Super Bowl aspirations—which the 49ers clearly have—cannot have too many good pass-rushers, and San Francisco remains $30.4 million below the cap,” Knox wrote .

There is no such thing as too many pass rushers in the NFL. It is similar to pitching in the MLB and 3-point shooting in the NBA.

To find success, you need those things and a lot of it. The 49ers have two established, excellent players but adding a third in Reddick certainly wouldn’t hurt.

He has recorded double-digit sacks in four straight seasons, cementing his status as one of the best edge rushers in the NFL. Trading a third-round pick to acquire him isn’t a steep price for a team with championship aspirations.
