SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) — A San Francisco man is accused of using a Muni bus to carry out a drive-by shooting and murder a bus passenger.

Jose Adrian Flores Garcia, 28, is being held in a San Francisco jail without bail, inmate records show.

District Attorney Brooke Jenkins said, “The cold-blooded killing and use of public transportation to flee the scene in this case is chilling. I would like to offer my condolences to the victim’s family and friends. Although nothing we do can bring the victim back, my office will do everything in our power to fight for justice in this case.”

Just after 11 p.m. on June 18, Garcia was sitting in the rear of a Muni bus when the victim boarded the bus with two friends, prosecutors said.

When the victim and his friends got off the bus at Mission Street and Silver Avenue, Garcia allegedly opened the bus window, stuck his arm out, and shot the victim, according to the DA’s office. The victim was unarmed.

Garcia then used the Muni bus as a getaway vehicle by yelling at the bus driver to drive away from the murder scene, the DA’s office said. San Francisco Police Department officers found the victim who died from gunshot wounds.

SFPD launched an investigation and later took Garcia into custody on July 18. Prosecutors charged Garcia with murder, committing a drive-by murder, and discharging a firearm from a moving vehicle.

Investigators did not release a motive in the case. The accused killer is scheduled to be arraigned on July 30 at the Hall of Justice courthouse.
