Hard Knocks has shown BMitch that he is NOT a fan of how Joe Schoen handled Giants' offseason

If you listen to Grant & Danny after BMitch & Finlay on 106.7 The Fan, you know they think this run of Hard Knocks: Offseason with the Giants has been incredibly entertaining television – and JP and Brian, too, loved a lot of the insight on Big Blue’s pre-draft process that included Jayden Daniels.

But after seeing the latest episode, well, Brian at least was rubbed the wrong way by some things, foremost the guy running the show up there.

“I watched three episodes last night, and listen man, as I watched that, Joe Schoen is a damn joke,” B said. “To me, it seems like a bunch of nerdy people have gotten together and said, ‘we're gonna just dictate what the athletic people in the world are gonna be dealing with and how they’re gonna deal with it.’ They talk about some stuff that I'm like, are they really asking those type of questions about people that you're paying $10 or $15 or $20 million to? It’s weird stuff to me.”

The access is entertaining in Brian’s mind, but one example for his rant above is how the Giants handled the Saquon Barkley situation.

“He told Schoen, ‘I told you where I want to be.’ At that point, if Joe Schoen was not a dork, he would have understood, he’s not calling your ass back. That's the last time he was talking to you,” Brian said. “Then he calls his agent and his agent says, if you give us 12.5 per year, 25 up front, we can work this deal out. Schoen never called back to say anything, so when they called you and told you, they got the 37 something, almost $39 million, you knew they were telling you it's over with.”

And that’s a bit on owner John Mara, too?

“I said before I ever saw it, Mara is setting him up – and when I saw it last night, that little look and drop of the head and the shoulders and walk out…you gonna get fired because of what you did with Saquon Barkley,” B said. “I’m just being real.”

JP referenced how, on Dianna Russini’s podcast, Saquon said the way things were presented wasn’t reality, because he knew ‘for months’ he wasn’t coming back to New York, so maybe it’s the entertainment effect?

“They tried to talk back to offering him last year – last year you offered him a certain amount to try and lock him in some way, and he felt he was gonna show you how he can play and then wanted to get paid,” Brian said.
“All the little people on their little team, everybody wanted Saquon back, the only person who didn’t was Schoen, and it seemed personal. But this is why football is so screwed up: all the little dorks working around it get their whole contract, but you don’t. A lot of damn dorks in sports.”

JP said he ‘almost wants to’ root for Daniel Jones because of similar situations, and yeah, Brian thinks it’s all ‘weird.’

“When people do their own contract, I say, okay cook, because you gotta be used to hearing people tell you how bad you are - they're not gonna tell you anything you did good,” Brian said. “So Daniel has to understand when they're going through their stuff, they have to look at it from both fronts, you know? He’s gotten hurt three times in two years, and has he really shown that he's the guy? So we need a legitimate backup because he probably gets hurt again and we're paying him $40 million. But it seems to me that Schoen has put his reputation on Daniel Jones, like, hey, we're paying him 40 so we can't pay nobody else, and Mara clearly said Saquon was the most popular player. He was trying to tell you this, you dork, and you let him go to the damn rival? You better hope you don't play well because I'm gonna send your ass packing. That's exactly what he was saying to you.”
